Desensitisation
We introduce your child to the planned treatment slowly and gradually.
In paediatric dentistry, desensitisation is the slow, gradual introduction of a child to the planned treatment using the Tell-Show-Do method (explain - show - do).
The paediatric dentistry instruments are explained and tried out in a playful way. Your child will also learn the special vocabulary that is important for the follow-up appointments. The suction cup becomes a "slurp", the rubber dam becomes a "blanket for the teeth", the local anaesthetic becomes "sleeping drops for the teeth" and the mouth guard becomes a "chair on which the teeth can rest".
If your child is ready, we will also carry out a small dental cleaning. We will then discuss our recommendation for the further course of treatment with you.
